| | | Perspectives and Theory This group of papers wanders into fields where the theoretical and conceptual bases available for forming or deciding on policy appear to the Unit to be deficient. These papers are binned when the Unit is convinced (and has happened to notice) that someone is seriously tackling the questions raised. Five of the current papers in this section bear mostly on economics, probably because it is a relatively rigorous discipline and the lacunae in the knitting together of concepts and reality are more evident. Prices – of tomatoes and other things -, why price levels change, information for decision before disaster, the utility of others and the insurance value of higher education are the themes. The fourth is a speculation on observation as a key to the nature of ethics. |
